A Lotus in Atlanta

Complete at 84,000 words. Upmarket Fiction.

For all of Shaye’s life, she has been a liar. Not that she’s particularly proud of it, but, well, when you’re a mostly closeted and mentally ill bisexual living in the American Deep South, lying becomes something of a necessity. Shaye thought that she had it all figured out, more or less, until she took a summer internship in Atlanta, GA and moved in with her famous older sister, May. Before long, the façade that Shaye has so carefully crafted around herself begins to fall apart. She finds herself at a nexus: she must either continue to deny her sexuality and mental illness and hide such big pieces of herself, or she could decide to openly be who she really is. She must decide if the risk of censure from friends, family, and strangers alike is one that she’s willing to take. This work explores themes of identity, mental illness, and sexuality. It is currently being queried to literary agents.

The Red Kite Wyvern

Complete at 120,000 words. High Fantasy.

A high fantasy novel featuring Neala and Alix (a couple of sapphics that can’t stand how much they like each other), a corrupt ruling government, and characters that find out that more often than not, the line between “good” and “bad” is debatable. Also includes a rebellion that might not be what it’s cracked up to be, a shockingly straightforward goddess, and a pet wyvern with more than enough attitude to go around.
